In November, Umicore Precious Metals Chemistry hosted its third Umicore Catalysis Symposium (UCS), a successful gathering on innovation in homogeneous catalysis, which for the first time took place in Germany. This event marked a significant milestone in homogeneous catalysis progress, gathering 70 participants, including esteemed keynote speakers, including Professor John Hartwig from the University of California, Berkeley, and Marc Mauduit from CNRS in Rennes, along with distinguished experts from different industrial perspectives.
Held in San Francisco, CA, the second UCS attracted around 50 scientists from prominent Bay Area pharmaceutical companies such as Genentech and Gilead, among others. Esteemed speakers like Prof. Neufeldt from Montana State University, James Murray, Kyle Mack of Genentech, Haifeng Yang from Merck & Co., Inc., Achim Link of Solvias, Joshua Dunetz of Gilead, and Prof. Rovis from Columbia University graced the event.
The inaugural Umicore Catalysis Symposium at the Kimpton Marlowe Hotel in Cambridge, Massachusetts, united top minds in chemical process R&D. Aimed at exchanging insights on homogeneous catalysis technologies, it highlighted applications in pharmaceuticals and fine chemicals on an industrial scale. Keynote speakers Nobel Laureate Robert Grubbs and esteemed scientist Nilay Hazari sparked great interest, offering profound insights.
